Portland’s Goodwill Sends Relief Funds to Haiti

January 21, 2010

Along with the rest of the world, Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette (GICW) is deeply saddened by the enormous tragedy resulting from the earthquakes in Haiti.  GICW has an advisory relationship with “The Haitian Project,” a Catholic Mission which supports and operates Louverture Cleary School (LCS), a tuition-free, co-educational secondary boarding school for economically underprivileged Haitian children.  The LCS educates and nurtures children of all faiths from the poorest Haitian families to maximize their potential and enable them to work toward building a Haiti where justice and peace thrive.

Goodwill will donate $10,000 to “The Haitian Project” which will be used exclusively to provide relief for the earthquake victims.  Goodwill will also match, dollar-for-dollar, all donations to “The Haitian Project” made by its more than 1,800 employees in NW Oregon and SW Washington.   For further information about The Haitian Project, visit their website: www.haitianproject.org.
