Record Number of Shoppers Welcome New Cedar Hills Goodwill Store

Thursday morning at 7:00 A.M., nearly 300 eager shoppers passed through the doors of the newest Goodwill store, located at 12975 SW Westgate Drive. The crowd of people quickly filled more than 15,000 square feet, state of the art retail space.
The Cedar Hills store replaces the Griffith Park area Goodwill, located about one mile away. Because the new store is so much larger, ten more employees were hired to help run the more than 25,000 square-foot facility, which also includes an attended donation area and a Job Connection office.
On the first day of the grand opening event, employees were kept busy stocking the shelves and racks with four days worth of merchandise. By Sunday, the store had served nearly 10,200 customers, making the four day celebration the most successful in Goodwill’s history.
With the sale of each donation, more than 90 cents on the dollar goes directly to Goodwill’s job programs that provide services to people with barriers to employment. In 2008 alone, more than 23,000 individuals were served throughout Oregon and Southwest Oregon. In addition, the mission-related payroll for this Goodwill retailer is recognized as the highest, worldwide.
